Prim says this is the cleanest spring on the island, and buses actually stop here when crossing the island to fill their water bottles. I filled mine apprehensively, though it was delicious with no side effects, thankfully!

You never drive more than a few miles in Dominica without crossing a mountain stream such as this.

Finally, we are across the island to the Caribbean side, with a view of Roseau, the largest city in the distance.

This man is making charcoal, which the Dominicans just call "coal." He builds a fire, then covers it with black dirt with vent holes (see where smoke is escaping.) It is a delicate balance of how much oxygen to allow in so the fire keeps burn

I leave Calibishie and travel across the island to Papillote in the rain forest. I stopped along the way at famous Emerald Pool located within the UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Emerald Pool is just one of the many attractions inside the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I arrived at 9:00am and not even the ticket collector had arrived. Gates were open, so I walked on in! Had the pool completely to myself for over an hour. BLISS!!!!
