Two interesting people I met on the ship -- Amanda from Houston who trains astronauts to work in the space station, and Franz from Holland, a pilot for KLM.

Watching from the wing of the bridge as the ice gets thicker the further south we go...

One of the reasons I chose this itinerary is because it attempted a Polar Circle crossing (though no guarantees.) As we get a little closer, Lynn and I get out the champagne to put on ice just in case!

The crabeater seals appear very curious, coming right up to the pontoons on the zodiac.

All penguin rookeries have paths that the penguins use to get from their nests to the water. The expedition staff warns us to "Stay off the penguin highways!!"

Zodiac through the ice arch gives an idea of just how huge the ice sculptures are -- too fragile to drive through.

The expedition staff/zodiac drivers are real cowboys as they ride the boat up to Deck 3 before the boats are stowed. Since we are on Deck 3, this twice-daily show takes place right outside our cabin window!
