You just want to walk off and pick the molting skin off....

A blissful summer day at the beach...

There are about twelve of them here, and you can only imagine the snoring and snorting taking place. During molting, they don't eat or enter the water. They do nothing but sleep and poop.

(YAWN!) You may be saying the same thing after all these pictures of elephant seals!

Penguins have an incredible ability to project poop 3-4 feet away. No matter what they are doing, when it is time they just lift their tails and "FIRE!" You had better hope your boots are not in the line of projection.

Chinstrap penguins are named for the obvious "strap" under their chin that makes them appear to be wearing a helmet.

Chinstraps have a much louder call (SQUAWK!!!!) than other penguins.

They must undergo this preening process almost daily to waterproof their feathers.

All the "chart nerds" meet in the ship's library to plot our course.

Headed northbound now, back through the Drake Channel. This time, it is a bit rougher with 18 ft swells. This is view outside my window. "One hand for the boat" at all times!!
