The surface of the glacier was so beautifully blue that it was difficult to believe it was real!

We come over the ridge and see a group of people assembled down below....

We go down to join them for....."Whiskey on the rocks!" A shot of whiskey over glacier ice.

Salud! This little cocktail break was surprisingly refreshing!

The day trip out of El Calafate takes us by boat along the north face, then we board a bus for the 15 minute drive over to the south face.

Giving some perspective of ice as far as you can see....

It seemed odd seeing this much ice and greenery of the nearby forest all in the same place.

Perito Moreno glacier is one of 48 glaciers that make up the Southern Patagonian ice cap, worlds third largest body of fresh water behind Antarctica and Greenland.

This vending machine provides hot water for the national drink, "Mate'" which is an herbal infusion, sipped from a gourd through a perforated hollow silver straw.
